“I’m lighting the Ellie Goulding tour on a grandMA 2 console. For this tour I wanted to create a stage set using only light and fabric but also wanted to maintain plenty of layers within this set, to keep the look of the stage fresh throughout the show. It’s been a fantastic experience working on Ellie’s shows throughout the US, the atmosphere from the audience has been incredible, topped off by a brilliant lighting crew from Brown Note Productions!” I wanted to keep the shapes and textures in the overall design quite clean and simple, whilst echoing the triangles referenced in Ellie’s album artwork and videos. “When I first met Ellie she gave me a really clear description of how she would like her album to be perceived visually, and from that came my brief for the live show…. Having worked with Rebecca on previous projects I was over the moon to be asked to be involved with Ellie’s tour. Working with my business partner Pablo Beckett, our company Bryte Design looks after show, lighting and video design for a wide range of artists, from Ellie Goulding through Nero, James Morrison and Elbow. I began working with Ellie back in December 2012 after being approached by Ellie’s tour manager Rebecca Travis. “I’ve been designing set and lighting for the past 8 years in the UK.
